Alvin L. Williams Sr., 93, of Powell, TN went home to the Lord on Sunday August 30, 2015. He was a member of Cumberland Baptist Church. He served our country as an honorable member of the Navy, and retired from the Federal Government in Washington D.C.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years Nellie Summerlin Williams.
Alvin is survived by his children Linda (Frank) Scimonelli, Alva (Ron) Shipe, Alvin L. "Willie" Williams Jr.; grandchildren Janet (Randy) Williams, Jeanette (Gary) Barnes, James (Anna) Scimonelli, Tricia (Brian) Brown, W. Edward (Kelly) Shipe, Jessica (Roy) Brooks, and Jennifer Knox; great-grandchildren Jordan, Averi and Bailey Williams, Ryan, Rylee, Reed and Reese Barnes, Ellery, Adelia and Everett Brown, Lillian and Katherine Shipe, Kalei Williams and Kiera Brooks. Special thanks to the staff at Ben Atchley Veterans Home for their compassion and special care.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 - 1:00 PM on Friday September 4, 2015 at Woodhaven Funeral Home, 160 Edgemoor Rd. Powell, TN 37849. Graveside will follow at 1:00 PM at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens; Dr. Jim Henry will officiate. Woodhaven Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens is honored to serve the Williams Family.
