IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ann
Carey
October 8, 1926 – February 22, 2023
Ann (Sweetie) Carey was born on October 8, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio and passed away on February 22, 2023, at the age of 96. She lived in Powell, Tennessee for over 65 years. During this time she and her loving husband, Bill raised a family of 4, and were long standing members of Powell United Methodist Church.
Married for 60 years, she is preceded in death by husband, William T. Carey (Bill); her father and mother, Frank & Florence Whitmyer; her daughter, Janice E. Carey; and by her brother and sister-in-law, Frank & Ruth Whitmyer.
She is survived by daughter Marjorie Dukes (Lawton); son Robert (Mary); and son James (Elizabeth). Ann is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Carey; David Carey (Melissa); Michael Carey, Betsy Hoffman (Adam); Katie Humphries (Dave); 12 great grandchildren; nephew, Alan Whitmyer (Ann); nieces, Joan Darnell (Jim); and Jan Otto (Chris).
Ann was a homemaker in the truest sense of the word. She loved her husband and children and was a care giver for her parents as well as her in-laws. Ann worked to make her home a sanctuary for her family and friends. Not only was it spotless, there was always something good to eat! She was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed knitting, needle point, and cross stitch, all of which will remain treasured keepsakes for her cherished family. Her grandchildren were much loved (and spoiled) by both Ann and Bill with trips to the zoo, Dollywood, and famous sleepovers where they camped out in the living room – with flashlights!
A grave-side service will be held at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens,
on Saturday March 4, 2023 at 10:00 AM.

Ann's family will miss her greatly as she and her husband Bill, were the essence of our family love.
