Hurst, Basil Eugene (Gene), age 78 of Claxton, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 23, 2014. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Clinton. Gene was retired after 37 years from Pleasant Ridge Elementary School. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Frances Hurst, parents John and Mary Hurst, brothers Herman and Don Hurst, sisters Helen Jordan and Eloise Hurst. He is survived by sons Kevin Hurst and wife Shawna of Clinton, David Hurst and wife Amanda of Knoxville, Steve Hurst of Knoxville and Chuck Hurst and wife Helen of Knoxville; daughters Lawana Pollitt of Alabama, Rhonda Craig and husband Mike of Knoxville; several grandchildren and greatgrandchild. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 28, 2014 6pm-8pm with service to follow at 8pm. at Woodhaven Funeral Home 160 Edgemoor Rd, Powell, TN 37849. Rev. Preacher Tilley will be officiating. Entombment will be Friday, August 29, 2014 1:00pm at Sherwood Memorial Gardens 3176 Air Port Hwy, Alcoa, TN 37701. Woodhaven Funeral Home is honored to serve the Hurst family.
