Bettie Neathawk Costa, 85, of Powell, TN, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, March 15, 2017, at home after a long bout with cancer. She was originally from Virginia and then moved to Powell in 1990 to retire. Bettie was a Librarian for many years. She was a member of the Brethren Church in Virginia. She was an avid reader and fisherman, and she loved her sports. In fact Bettie always had every team schedule in her pockets.
She was preceded in death her late husband of 40 plus years Saloman Costa; and her parents, Otha & Berta Neathawk.
Bettie is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Earl & Wanda Neathawk; her two sisters and brother-in-law, Lorraine Rayl and Janet & Alan Tuck; many nieces and nephews and other family members. Bettie is also survived by her friends and caretakers, Norma Barrett, Mary LaForest and of course her best girl, Poppi (her beloved dog).
Visitation will be Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 5-7 pm at Woodhaven Funeral Home, 160 Edgemoor Road, Powell, TN 37849. Graveside Service will be held Sunday, March 19, 2017 at 1pm at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mitchell Martin & Cassandra Gibbs and their staffs, plus Trudy, Lara & Frank, three wonderful folks at Amedisys Hospice, for all their love and care through Bettie's cancer fight.
