Betty Lou Thurman, age 74, of Powell, TN., passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Parkwest Medical Center.  Betty was born in Anderson Co., TN., on November 5, 1943, to Amos and Elsie Coward.  She worked as a housekeeper at Parkwest Hospital and attended Centerview Baptist Church in Concord, TN.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Wayne and Kenneth Coward, sons David Thurman and Richard Thurman Jr., daughter Karen Thurman, several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her husband Richard Thurman, one daughter Julie (Robert) Williams-Sands, grandchildren Josh (Jennifer) Turner, Alan (Brittany) Thurman, Laura (Martin) Mendez, Michael Thurman, Steven Thurman, Autumn Williams, Serena Williams, and several great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, September 24, 2018 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM with the funeral service to follow at 8:00PM in Woodhaven Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will be Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 10:00AM at Woodhaven Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 160 Edgemoor Road, Powell, Tn. 37849.
