Carrie Lee Kephart Ramsey Scuggs, 89 of Oak Ridge, TN passed away Wednesday December 16, 2015 at Fort Loudon Medical Center as a result of complications from pneumonia.
She was born in Murphy, NC December 14, 1926, to Fannie and Perry Kephart. There, she married William Harold (Bull) Ramsey and had two sons, William "Roy" and Gary "Lee" . They moved to Oak Ridge, TN in 1950 where she became a bookkeeper for A&P. She later married John Scruggs and moved to Atlanta. She retired in 1983 and moved back to Oak Ridge where she pursued her passion for dancing by becoming an avid ballroom dancer. She was an excellent seamstress and made many beautiful quilts. She loved to play cards and dominos with friends and family. She will be greatly missed for her beautiful smile and happy spirit. Carrie was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She is preceeded in death by her parents Perry and Fannie Kephart, siblings Garland Kephart, Ethel Greene and Fred Kephart, husbands Harold (Bull) Ramsey and John Scruggs. She is survived by sons Roy (Sharon) Ramsey and Lee (Ann) Ramsey, sisters Betty Long, Mae Ferguson, and Ruby Ramsey, grandchildren Sheryl (Dave) Lambdin, Garrett (Michelle) Ramsey, William "Brent"(Heidi) Ramsey, James "Nathan" (Monica) Ramsey and Brian (Becky) Russell, 12 (soon to be 13) great grandchildren, 2 (soon to be 3) great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday December 20, 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with funeral service at 2:00pm internment will immediately follow. Services are being held at Woodhaven Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 160 Edgemoor Road, Powell, TN 37849.
