Charles Thomas Cagle, 86 years old, passed away on August 15th peacefully at his home after a long illness. He grew up in Knoxville, the son of Frederick Eules and Gracie Mae Tittle Cagle. He became a Christian at an early age while attending Elm Street Baptist Church, He loved and participated in all kinds of sports, especially football. Charles graduated from Young High School and joined the Navy, where he traveled all over the Pacific. Returning home, he married the love of his life, Sandra Lunsford. After graduating from U.T, He was employed by Anderson Co. school system as a Speech Pathologist for 30 years, mostly at Lake City Elementary School, He earned 2 more college degrees from Union College and Tennessee Tech, In retirement, he enjoyed Golfing with his friends, traveling, spending time with his family, and attending Beaver Ridge UMC.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Glenda and brother Jim Cagle. Survived by his wife of 61 years, daughter Kimberly (Keith) Burnett, Grandsons Kaleb (Abbey) and Keaton Burnett, Sisters Darlene Sharp and Annette (Darrell) Catlett, brother-in-law Darrell (Brenda) Lunsford and sister-in-law-Gloria Lunsford and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any animal shelter. Special thanks to the wonderful staff of U.T. Hospice, Services will be held at Woodhaven Cemetery, receiving friends at 12 noon on Thursday with services & Burial to follow. Reverend Teresa McClure Officiating. Pallbearers: Keith, Kaleb-and Keaton Burnett, Darrell Lunsford, Darrell and Jeff Catlett.
