Miniard, Claude, age 86 of Powell, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 1, 2009. Mr. Miniard was a member of Zion Baptist Church and retired from BellSouth. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn; parents, Walter & Callie Miniard; brothers, Jack and Jess; grandson, Brian Edward Miniard. He is survived by his sons, Wayne & wife Jane Miniard and Gary & wife Mary Jane Miniard; grandchildren, Richard Craig & wife Wendy Miniard, Chris Bannach, Terry & wife Jennifer Brannach, Shawn & wife Vicki Brannach, Clint & wife Dustye McCarty, Chris Overbay; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph Miniard; sister, June Rouse. Mr. Miniard was a WWII veteran and served in the US Army. He participated in the invasion of Normandy Beach on D-Day +1. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Wednesday, June 3, at Woodhaven Funeral Home Chapel with funeral service to follow at 8pm with Pastor Bill Wagner, officiating.
