IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clifford Ray
Acuff
April 6, 1933 – July 29, 2018
Clifford Ray Acuff, age 85, passed away July 29, 2018 at his residence. He was born April 6, 1933 in Corryton, TN., to Charlie "John" and Leona Tharp Acuff. The middle child, he loved an older sister and brother, also a younger brother and sister. Living in CO is his sister Lynn and her husband Norm Swenson. He leaves many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Siblings now passed away are Mildred (Tiny) Talbott, J.C. and Wayne Acuff. He leaves his wife of 65 years (Nov. 1, 2017) Betty Rines Acuff. They have lived in Halls for 60 years (Oct. 2018). Mr. Acuff graduated 1 st year Fulton High School in 1952. Time out for the army and Korea. Then came sons Robin Ray Acuff of Heiskell, Bryce Wayne Acuff of Halls, Christopher Thomas Acuff (deceased Sept. 2016) Granchildren Paul (Kelly) of Powell, Troy of VA., Casey (Shanae'), Brandon of Knoxville, Kristi of Denver, CO., Great Grandchildren Carter an Aria of Knoxville.
Growing up he played with his "jump chuck" hauling dirt. He had a dog named Brownie. There were lots of neighborhood kids and he was champion marble shooter. He loved his bicycle, motor scooter, and a big Honda. He and family became members of Northside Christian Church (Diciples of Christ) in the early 1960's. He was in charge of the church kitchen on Sunday for several years (coffee, etc.) He worked faithfully on the church property committee. He was given many AKA's, awards as a square dancer, most friendly Dads, Pappaw, and FRIEND to so many. Besides Dads wife says proudly that he was the hardest worker she's ever known.
His will to live has been incredible as he fought to keep life here on earth. The "side" effects of leukemia were like dealing with another tough disease one by one. His "Man Upstairs" would see him through he would say.
