Doris Jean Childers Edwards, 72, of Knoxville, TN passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Columbus, GA on May 08, 1943. She later moved to Talladega, AL where she met and married the love of her life, William "Bill" Edwards. Doris was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, on Blacksferry Rd, Powell, TN 37849. She loved her family and friends. Doris had a very giving servant''s heart and was always smiling.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents John and Sallie Childers
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years William P. Edwards; her two children and their spouses, Billy & Johanna Edwards of Berryville, AR, and Sonya & Joe Whicker of Powell, TN; her grandchildren, Rachel, Sara, & Nathan Edwards, and Luke Whicker; her siblings Cary Childers of Talladega, AL, Mary & Walter Mizzell of Oxford, AL, and sister-in-law Dot Goodwin of Sylacauga, AL; and several loving nieces and nephews.
The family welcomes family and friends to visit from 5:00PM -7:00PM on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Woodhaven Funeral Home, 160 Edgemoor Rd. Powell, TN 37849. The Funeral Service will follow at 7:00PM. Graveside will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens.
