MEMORIAL OBITUARY FOR DORIS MEDVED

MEDVED DORIS NORMA - age 85, of Heiskell, TN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2008 at Pardee Care Center in Flat Rock, NC after many months of illness. Member of Calvary Baptist Church, Raccoon Valley, Heiskell, TN; where she served for almost 70 years as pianist, church clerk, secretary, Sunday School teacher, GA leader, VBS teacher and in every service to her community. She was a substitute teacher, president of the PTA, a room mother for many years, chaperone for school trips, volunteer and inspiration to many young lives as she modeled her love of God and generosity of spirit, right up until hours before her soul took flight. Born February 16, 1923, she was the daughter of Etta and Arthur Williams, the sister of Elsie Millikan, and married to Martin D. Medved for almost 50 years before he passed away.
She was the beloved mother of Denise Medved, of Hendersonville, NC, who was at her mother''s side as Doris made her passing. She also leaves her son-in-law Roger Belford of Hendersonville.
Her dear family includes her niece, Ailex Sue Cox, Heiskell, TN and nephew Darrien Gideon of Powell, TN, nieces Patti Fain and Anne Tingo of Florida, nephew Chris Medved of Florida, nephew Gary Bratland of Hawaii, nephew Steve Cash of South Carolina, and nephew Steve Medved of Vermont, as well as grandchildren Jill, Joe, Aimee, Amanda, Alyssa, and several beautiful great-grandchildren, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
The family will receive friends 4pm to 8pm Sunday, July 6 at Woodhaven Funeral Home in Claxton, TN. Services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, Raccoon Valley, Heiskell, TN at 10:30am Monday July 7, with Rev. Harold Ogle and Rev. Daniel Flatford officiating. Burial at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens will be immediately following. Pallbearers are Roger Belford, Darrien Gideon, Henry Robinson, Steve Anderson, James Bennett, Jimmy Herrell, David Herrell, Daniel Flatford and honorary pallbearer, Stanley Johnson.
