Obituary

Dorothy Jean Bartlett Wentworth, 85, of Claxton, Tennessee, passed away at her home on January 28, 2018, after battling dementia for nearly 10 years. Beloved wife, mother, nana and sister, she was born September 15, 1932, to parents, Luke Byron "Jack" and Doris Rebecca Bartlett, who preceded her in death. She met her husband of 65 years, Harold Wentworth, at a dance called the Paragon Club in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Their love of dance continued throughout their marriage, as they traveled in a popup camper to more than 40 states with their five children to attend square dancing conventions. She and her family have been active members of Edgemoor Baptist church in Claxton for more than 50 years. She and her best friend Dot Brown, who has passed away, were in charge of the nursery during Sunday school. She loved sewing, cross-stitching, embroidering and quilting, using these skills to make things for people she cared about. After her children were grown, she and her husband decided to travel the world, visiting many places, including Hawaii, Alaska, North Dakota, Canada, Key West, France, Scotland, Switzerland and Italy.

She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Bartlett and Edward Bartlett; and sister, Ann Stockstill.

She is survived by five children, Mark Wentworth (Dede) from Knoxville, Richard Wentworth from Allardt, Bruce Wentworth (Cathy) from Knoxville, Byron Wentworth (Marian) from Blue Ridge, Virginia, and Becky Raymond (Mark) from Gainesville, Florida; 15 grandchildren, Miranda Wentworth, Brandon Wentworth (Katie), Logan Wentworth, Sierra Bow (Travis), Sherri James (Rich), James Wentworth, Michelle Ramirez, Amanda Holley (Frank), Nick Wentworth (Olivia), Jessica Wentworth, Jacob Wentworth, Jason Raymond (Rachel), Jennifer Jensen (Matt), Julianne Raymond and Joshua Raymond; 18 great-grandchildren, Adeline, Cora, Atticus, Silas, Ethan, Emma, Christopher, Ethan, Nathan, Meriella, Will, Asher, Alexander, Rian, Christian, Caleb, Chloe and Violet; and one great-great-grandchild, Graeson.

She is also survived by three sisters, Jackie Franklin, Mable Spiecker (Barry), and Mary Ruth Large (Jerry); and four brothers, Turman Bartlett (Marge), James Bartlett, David Bartlett (Deborah), and Steve Bartlett.

The family would also like to thank Angela Smith Goode and Amedisys Hospice Care for the special care they provided.
