IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dustin Joseph
Mccoig
July 16, 1983 – January 15, 2025
Dustin Joseph McCoig, 41, of Clinton, TN, passed away at UT Hospital on January 15, 2025.
Born on July 16, 1983, in Oak Ridge, TN, Dustin was the beloved son of Dan McCoig and the late Hope Caldwell. Dustin lived a life full of energy, warmth, and love, touching the hearts of everyone he met.
Dustin could often be found at the gym, where his dedication not only propelled him toward personal goals but also encouraged and inspired those around him. His vibrant personality and gift of gab made every conversation memorable, and his ability to make others feel valued and welcome was truly unmatched. Dustin had a generous heart, always putting others before himself, and his happiest moments were spent creating lasting memories with family and friends.
One of Superman's most iconic quotes about life comes from the 1978 movie Superman:
"There's a superhero in all of us. We just need the courage to put on the cape."
This quote is a reminder that everyone has the potential to do great things, help others, and make a difference in the world. It aligns beautifully with Dustin's life, which was a testament to kindness, bravery, and hope.
Dustin is survived by his wife, Kendra McCoig; his cherished stepchildren, Candace Gates and Lucas Gates; his father and stepmother, Dan and Janet McCoig; and his brother, Cory McCoig. He is also remembered with love by his "brother in spirit," Jamie Happney, and friends who turned into family: A.J. Murray, Joshua Ooten, and Luke Andrews. Dustin was preceded in death by his mother, Hope Caldwell.
A celebration of Dustin's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Dustin's honor.
