Edith S. Foster, 97, of Knoxville, TN passed away peacefully Sunday, October 14, 2018.  Ms. Foster was born on December 09, 1920 to Maude & Ben Smith of Toccoa, GA. She was a faithful member of Solway Baptist Church.  Ms. Foster work as a seamstress and with upholstery. She loved to read her bible daily and visit with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leon O. Foster of 29 years who passed away in 1969, 6 brothers and 3 sisters all from Toccoa, GA.  She also had two sons, Ralph "Buddy" Foster and Woody T. Foster; and a grand-daughter, June McAuliffe of Knoxville that passed before her.

Ms. Foster is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Joan & James Carpenter of Knoxville; her sister Frances (Jack) Crawford; several nieces and nephews; her special sister-in-law and husband, Jean & Boyd Dishman of Kingsport, TN; also her 9 grandchildren,  12 great-grandchildren, 6 great great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren.

Her caretakers were her daughter & son-in-law Joan & James Carpenter and family.  She was a good Christian woman who loved her family dearly.  We all dearly loved Mother, and she dearly loved her family.  She loved God and her church.  She faithfully read her bible daily and she prayed a lot whilst talking to God.  Mother and Dad moved to Tennessee, from Georgia, in 1942.  They both attended Toccoa Falls Institute, where Mother was from September 1935 to January 1940.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 6:00pm-8:00pm, with a Funeral Service at 8:00pm, which Chaplin Frank Dawson will officiate.  The Interment with be Thursday, October 18 ^th at 10:00am. All services are at Woodhaven Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 160 Edgemoor Road, Powell, TN 37849.
