Gaines Eugene Bruce, 75, of Powell, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024 at his home. He was born August 3, 1948 to Glen & Esther Bruce in Beebe, Arkansas. Gaines grew up in Muskegon, MI, where he attended Muskegon Heights High School and played baseball and ran cross-country. He went on to attend Michigan State University, where he earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Gaines was a retired Fire Protection Engineer, who had a career spanning 40 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and golfing in his free time.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Linda Bruce, and daughter Alexandria Nunn.

Gaines is survived by his son-in-law Kevin Nunn of Powell, TN; his son & daughter-in-law Eric & Carly Bruce of Williamsville, NY; his siblings and their spouses, Leighton & Dottie Bruce of Inman, SC, Dr. James and Nelda Fitzgibbon of Akron, OH; and four grandsons, Kevin Nunn, Jack Bruce, Matthew Bruce, and Ryan Bruce.

Family will receive friends from 11:00am to 1:00pm Friday May 10, 2024 at Woodhaven Funeral Home, with a graveside service at Woodhaven Memorial Garden Cemetery to follow.
