Proffitt, Garfield Jr, age 77, of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 4, 2011. He was a member of Northside Christian Church for 40 years. After graduating from East High School, he served 4 years in the Navy and then continued his education at UT where he graduated with a business degree. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Bobbie; son, Chip Proffitt; daughter, Amie Cagle and husband David; grandchildren, Brandon, Haley and Connor; several in-laws and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 7, from 5:00 to 7:00 with funeral service following at 7:00 at Woodhaven Funeral Home Chapel; Rev. Frits Haverkamp, officiating.
