Obituary

Terry, Gary Wayne, of Clinton, passed away January 28, 2008 at his home after a hard fought battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Gillis and Minnie Spires of South Knoxville; mother, Wilma Jeanette Coker of South Knoxville and later Clinton. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn L. Terry; daughter, Kathleen Pardue and grand-daughter, Scarlet Singer Pardue; son, Eric Duane Terry, all of Clinton; brother, Gillis Duane Terry and wife Cynthia of Clinton; sisters, Nancy Morgan of Oak Ridge, Janice Shell of Knoxville and Donna Yarbrough and husband Clayton of MacClenny, Florida; uncles, Robert Spires and wife Lynne of Kingston, George Mellon and wife Sharon of Knoxville; aunt, Billie Spires of South Knoxville. He is also survived by special friends, Dr. Bob Birdwell and wife Jewell of Clinton and Mr. & Mrs. Eric Shorrman of Bedford, Texas. He was a graduate of Fulton High School and served in the US Air Force; co-owner with Rob Spires and Duane Terry of S&T Construction. He retired from the Oak Ridge Fire Department in 1998 and past IAFF Union President. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, sailor, and especially enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle, above all a master "tinkerer". He enjoyed wood carving and was a self-taught craftsman. A Celebration of his life will be held Thursday, January 31, 2008, at 2pm at Edgemoor Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Byrge, officiating. Receiving of friends will follow the service.
