George Edward Light Jr (Eddie), 58, of Knoxville left this world peacefully on Friday, July 23, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with C.O.P.D. Eddie fought this disease with the fierceness and stubbornness that he exhibited in all things throughout his life. After retiring from Coca-Cola Enterprises in 2014, Eddie began a leisurely life at home spending time with family. Eddie was man of few words, but he was never afraid to speak his mind. He easily took command of a room without ever speaking a word, and loved to make others laugh.

Born in Kingsport, Tennessee, Eddie grew up in Nashville where he played many youth sports often with his father as his coach. He was later proud to play football for the Stratford High School Spartans. He remained an avid sports fan throughout his life. He especially enjoyed cheering on the Tennessee Vols, Tennessee Titans, Atlanta Braves, and after hesitantly being converted by his son-in-law, the Atlanta Falcons. Eddie will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and Papaw.

Preceded in death by his father; George E. Light, Sr.; his mother Dana Light, Father-In Law, Herman Reed Butler, Jr.; and Mother-In-Law, Julia Faye Butler.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 32 years, Lisa Light, his son, George E. Light III, and daughters Ashley Light, Shelby (Dylan) Mitchell and Samantha Light; grandchildren Aaliyah Boone, Jaelyn Farley, Braylon Boone, Laney Light, Jaxon Mitchell, Jayde Mitchell, and Luke Mitchell; Stepmother Marie Light; Sisters Terri Burcham and Pamela Light; Sisters-in-law, Pat Helms, Susan Butler, and Kathy (Winn) Woodard; and a large loving group of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday, July 27, 2021 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Woodhaven Chapel, 160 Edgemoor Road, Powell, TN
37849. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens.
