Glenda K. Hughes, 76, of Jefferson City, TN passed away at Jefferson Memorial Hospital March 11, 2023.
Glenda was born in Big Stone Gap, VA to Charles (Buster) Adams and Myrtle Carter Adams. She graduated from South Young High School in 1963 and attended Knoxville Business College where she was recruited to work with the FBI before graduating and moved to Washington D.C. Over the years her family moved back and forth between Maryland and Tennessee where they finally settled and raised a family.
Glenda is proceeded in death by her parents Charles (Buster) Adams and Myrtle Carter Adams. As well as her husband of 36 years, Jackson Carl Hughes, III, infant son Jeffery Carl Hughes, adult son Charles Jackson Hughes and infant grandson Sawyer Randall Moore. She is survived by her brother Aden (Ann) Adams, her daughter Katherine Moore, best friend and daughter-in-law Mildred Hughes, sister-in-law Sharon (Lynel) Snyder. Nieces: Shenary Cotter, Shawna Adams, Betsy (Jeff) Stadler, Julie (Mark) Henderson, Janice Black, Christina Jones, and Melissa (Charles) Jenkins. Nephews: Larry (Melissa) Muehleisen, Nicholas (Piola) Muehleisen, and William Hughes. 3 Granddaughters: Jennifer Hughes, Deanna "Marie" Moore, and Jacqueline "Carla" Moore and 1grandson: Charles "Lee" Moore. As well as 8 great grandsons and 2 great granddaughters.
She was a devoted Christian and attended Colonial Heights Methodist Church for several years. Glenda will be missed by family and friends alike.
Celebration of life will be at Woodhaven Funeral and Memorial Gardens in Powell, TN. March 24, 2023.
Visitation will be 10-11 am with a service to follow at 11:30. Graveside will follow immediately afterward.
