IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Helen Grace
Ottinger
January 30, 1924 – January 6, 2019
Helen Grace Ottinger, 94 , of Powell, TN., passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Autumn Care Assisted Living in Knoxville, TN. She was born January 30, 1924, to Grant E. and Lillian Briggs Ward. She was a faithful 60 year member of First Baptist Church of Powell, TN., where she served in many roles and decision making. Mrs. Ottinger loved working jigsaw puzzles and once completed, she would always give them away. She had a servant's heart and enjoyed baking pies, cakes, and homemade goods to give away to those she loved. Helen loved cooking and feeding everyone a good, home cooked meal and poured everything into any child in her life. She was a selfless person who always thought of others and wanted to make everyone's life better. She had an unconditional love for all people and touched and impacted many lives throughout her long and giving life. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 76 years James K. Ottinger, a son Gerald Ottinger, and a granddaughter Melanie Deering.
Helen is survived by her loving daughter Julia Deering, grandchildren Daniel Deering, Janet Staats, Dennis Ottinger, great grandchildren Nathan Ottinger, Allie Deering, Danielle Deering, special nieces and nephews, extended family Dianna Grotstuck and Mari Grotstuck, and the staff at Autumn Care who took care of and assisted Mrs. Ottinger.
10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
