Herbert James Goben, born: Labor Day, September 5, 1938, in Davenport, Iowa, passed away (day, month, date, year.). He lived in the Heiskell, Tennessee area. Growing up, he was in the class of 1953 at Colona School, in Colona Illinois, and class of 1957 at United Township High School in East Moline, Illinois.

He was proceeded in death by his mother, Wilma Pauline (Williams) Goben, Father, Herbert Matthew Goben, a brother, Perry Franklin Goben, a sister Florence Pauline (Goben) Trimby, wife Patricia Thaile (Ward) Goben, Son Christian Paul Goben, and Son James Griffeth Goben. He is survived by his son Josh Matthew Goben, and several nieces and nephews.

He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Clinton, Tennessee. He loved The Lord. And he loved people. Especially children. He was a firm believer in the church’s role in evangelizing the world. He was active in that most of his life. Since October 12, 2003, that has been at Second Baptist.

Family will receive friends Monday November 2, 2026, from 11:00am to 1:00pm with a Funeral Service at 1:00pm, and a Graveside Service at 2:00pm with Military Honors to be held at Woodhaven Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens located at 160 Edgemoor Rd. in Powell.
