Howard Douglas Bryant, 83, of Knoxville, TN passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022.   He was born in Twila, KY to Charles Howard & Edna Earl Bryant.  Doug was a 1958 graduate of Oak Ridge High School, Oak Ridge, TN.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Doug enjoyed fishing, watching sports, and was a life-long UT fan.  He worked 30 years for Roadway Express, where his nickname was "Bear Bryant."  Doug was a Christian and attended West Hills Baptist Church in Knoxville.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Judith Marvene Bryant; his parents, Charles Howard Bryant and Edna Earl Nakamura; his step-mother, Geraldine "Jerry" Bryant; and his step-father, Frank T. Nakamura.

Doug is survived by his son, Douglas Matthew Bryant; his daughter, Cissy (Scott) Hamlin; his grandson, Charles Hamlin; his life-partner, Adrienne Sinclair Levering; his step-daughter, Michelle (Gary) Hollenhead; step-granddaughter, Alexandria "Jiffy" (Brian) Black; step-grandson, Sinclair Gibson; his step-great grandchildren, Blake & Bailey Black; sister, Donna (Jay) Welcom; 3 brothers, Danny (Mary) Bryant, Dr. Dale (Lisa) Bryant, Dean (Rebecca) Bryant; his step-sister, Jo Ann (Chris) Fitzpatrick; and many nieces & nephews and great nieces and great nephews; other family, friends, and fur baby, Tuffy.  All who knew Doug thought he was a sweet, kind, and gentle man.
