Jack Samuel Watson passed away on July 9, 2026. Jack was born on October 18, 1935 in Oliver Springs, TN. He graduated with a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee and worked as a chemical engineer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and as an adjunct professor at UT. He was a charter member and served as an elder of Farragut Presbyterian Church.

Jack is survived by Patricia, his wife of 65 years; his children, Bradley Watson (Janalin) and Amanda Duncan; his grandchildren, Elana (Emily), Joel, and Bethany Watson; and his sister, Judy Tiller. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Myrtle Watson.

A brief memorial service will be held at 2 pm on July 16th at Farragut Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Farragut Presbyterian Church or to the UT Foundation, Professor Jack S. Watson Award Fund (award fund account S010021052).
