Obituary

Jerry Lynn Vaughn, Sr., age 82, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2026, at Tennova Hospital in Powell, Tennessee.
Jerry was born on June 18, 1944, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Fred and Eula Vaughn, both of whom preceded him in death. He was raised in Heiskell, Tennessee, and attended Powell High School.
Jerry was a devoted and hardworking man who spent more than 30 years working for TAMKO Asphalt Company as a boiler operator before retiring. He was well loved by those who knew him, not only for his hard work but especially for his wonderful sense of humor. Jerry had a special gift for making people laugh, no matter how difficult life became. His laughter, stories, and ability to find humor in even the hardest moments will be deeply missed.
Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Brenda Vaughn, who passed away 40 years ago. Jerry never remarried. Although life was especially difficult after losing Brenda, he carried on with strength and faith, always keeping the Lord close to his heart. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Linda Barnett and Jimmy Vaughn.
Jerry loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping, and hiking. He also enjoyed watching television and, perhaps most of all, talking on the phone. He treasured time spent with his family and will be remembered for the love, laughter, stories, and memories he shared with them.
Jerry is survived by his children, Sandra Vaughn, Karen Cooter, Lisa Vaughn, and Jerry Vaughn, Jr.; his children's spouses, Charissa Vaughn, Del Disney, and John Porter; his siblings, Barbara Webb, Ed Webb, and Betty Anderson; his grandchildren, Samantha Gass, Morgan Cooter, Jerry Vaughn, III, Jalynn Vaughn, Jessica Snow, and Allie Farrell; and his great-grandchildren, Aaliyah and Andre.
Above all, Jerry loved the Lord. His faith was a source of strength throughout his life, and his family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at peace.
