John Howard Meadows, age 85, of Powell, TN., passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at UT Medical Center.  John was born February 28, 1933 in Winfield, TN., to Sterling and Dora Akers Meadows.  John retired as a CW4, with multiple awards and honors, after 22 years of service in the United States Army.  He served with the 82 ^nd Airborne and the 101 ^st Airborne, was a Green Beret, and a member of the Special Forces.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, farming, 4-wheeling, as well as going to Special Forces conventions.  Mr. Meadows was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Edd Meadows and Sterling Meadows, and a sister Janice Meadows Price.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Meadows, son John (Cheryse) Meadows, Jr., Sherman L. (Sandra) Meadows, daughter Wendy (Tom) Cameron, grandchildren Christopher Meadows, Christy Miller, Heather Turner, Artamus Cameron, Catherine Meadows, five very special great grandchildren, sister Delores (Dee) Watters, and a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and very special friends Debbie Stevens and Robert Gibson.

Visitation will be Saturday evening, October 27, 2018, from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Woodhaven Funeral Home, with the Funeral Service to follow at 7PM.  Interment will be at 1:30PM on Sunday, October 28, 2018, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens, 160 Edgemoor Road, Powell, Tn. 37849.  Evangelist Robert Gibson will officiate.
