John Howard Shanks, 88, of Knoxville, TN went home to be with Jesus on 11/11/2024, peacefully at home with his family.

Born in Somerset, Pennsylvania on 4/27/1936, John was an avid golfer, loved the outdoors, and never met a stranger. Throughout his life, he had many accomplishments. He proudly served his country in the military during the Korean War and is a decorated honorable veteran. He was a faithful husband, a strong leader, an amazing father and friend. We are so thankful Jesus allowed him to be a part of our lives. We couldn't have done life without him! You are so loved and will be missed by so many, but we will see you soon in heaven!

John is preceded in death by his dad, Clifford Shanks; mom, Lila Shanks; brother, Jim Shanks; sister, Karen Wallace. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Shanks; daughters, April Ray (Ben), Janet Rosati (Robert), Robin Blair (John); sons, Johnny Shanks (Mary), David Shanks (Janie); with fourteen grandchildren , sixteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

A memorial graveside service will be held at Woodhaven Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens 160 Edgemoor Rd, Powell, TN 37849 on November 21st at 2:00 pm.
