Shephard, John Wesley, age 70 of Powell passed away at St. Mary''s Hospice Center on July 11, 2008 with his family and friends by his side. He was a Christian and served in the National Guard. He was born and raised in the east Knoxville "Burlington" area. He was an Electrician for the Knoxville City Schools and Knox County. He retired after 35 years. He was an avid Powell Panther Football fan where his grandsons played football. He never missed a game. His unconditional love, caring and "self appointed chauffeur" to his grandsons after the passing of his daughter will always be remembered. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lesli Butler; his parents, Alvin and Francis Shephard; neice Becky Shephard. He is survived by his very special daughter and caregiver, Lori Shephard of Knoxville; devoted family-grandsons, Colby and Tanner Butler of Powell; son-in-law forever, Tim Butler and wife LeeAnn of Powell; sister, Mary Edna Foster and husband Erbie of Halls; brothers, Jim Shephard, Clyde & wife Jewel Shephard of Strawberry Plains, Leonard and wife Glenda of Knoxville, Alvin and wife Patsy of Kentucky; numerous special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A very special thank you to Dr. Bruton, Dr. Foust, Dr. Strike, Dr. Shutt and all of St. Mary''s Hospice Employees. The family will receive friends Monday, July 14, 2008, from 6-8 pm at Woodhaven Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at 11:00 am at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens with Mr. Lindsey Shephard and Mr. Colby Butler, officiating.. Pallbearers will be Tim Butler, Colby Butler, Tanner Butler, Josh Ferguson, Travis Crawford, Hayden Fleenor, David Bailey, Justin Foster.
