Joseph Phillip Gilvin, 75, of Powell, TN, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at his home. Joe was born in Lexington, KY on November 17, 1941 to Odie Gilvin and Francis Hartenstein. When he was 3 years old the family moved to Chalmette, LA. Growing up Joe loved to fish, in the Gulf, and ride his motorcycles, he was also an avid golfer and bowler. Joe joined the US Navy, where he served in a Patrol Squadron. When he left the Navy he spent the next 40 plus years in Law & Enforcement. He retired from the Anderson County Sherriff''s Department. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Dawn Gilvin.
Joe is survived by his three daughters and their husbands, Stacy & Josh Eason, Kim & Mack, Sr. Beal, and Gwen Gilvin; his grandchildren, Faith Eason, Emma Eason, Jake Beal, Brittany Beal and Mack Beal, Jr. and his wife Amy; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Beal & Mack Beal, III; plus many other family and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, November 13, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with a Service to follow at 7:00pm at Park West Church of God, Dutch Valley campus, 1416 Breda Dr. Knoxville, TN 37918. Pastor Josh Eason will lead the services. The interment will be Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 1:00 pm, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens, 160 Edgemoor Road, Powell, TN 37849.
