Kimberly Shell Thomas, 53 , of Oak Ridge, TN passed away at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, TN surrounded by her loving family. Kim was born in Hyden, KY on September 02, 1968, graduated from Leslie County High School, and was crowned Miss Mary Breckinridge in 1986. She then graduated from Union College, Class of 1993, with a Bachelors of Accounting. Kim also worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for many years. For the last several years she was her mother's full time caregiver in their home. Kim loved her family and always put them first whether it was care taking, cooking, or staying in touch with friends and family. She enjoyed taking care and buying multiple plants, listening to all county music, especially Billy Currington, and cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats.
Kim is preceded in death by her father, Taylor Pete Shell. She leaves behind her lifelong partner of 31 years as well as husband of 26 years, Glen Allen Thomas. They enjoyed picking on one another and laughing at themselves afterwards. They were often referred to as the couple on the sitcom the "Honeymooners." She is also survived by her daughter, Taylor Joanna Gal Phillips, her son-in-law Dustin, and soon to be granddaughter, Aurora; her Mother, Leila Gail Hacker Shell; her siblings and their spouses, Ricky Pete & Mary Rose Shell and Linda Gail & Walter Schmaedecke and nephew Blake; her in-laws, Joanne & Arthur Asmanes; Sister & Brother-in-Law, Donna & Mike Farrar and niece Joanne; along with many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A Graveside Service, officiated by Mike Buckley, will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, February 18, 2022 at Woodhaven Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens in Powell, TN.
The family would like to thank the MMC Critical Care Unit doctors, nurses, and the staff for their compassion, excellent care, and dedication to maintaining our beloved's dignity of life and death. We would also like to thank the staff Woodhaven Home for guiding us through this process with the utmost compassion and support.
