Margarette Martin Jackson McQueen passed away peacefully Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the age of 94. Margarette is preceded in death by her parents George Callie Jackson and Gussie Lennie Sumner, her husband Clarence George McQueen, her daughter Sheila Ellison, and her granddaughter Christy Bentley. She is survived by her three sons Rollice (Wife, Carol) McQueen, John McQueen, and Terry (Wife, Mary) McQueen, as well as her grandchildren, Mary Ann, John III, Duane, and Carol, her 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Margarette was a homemaker while she and Clarence raised their family in Clinton, TN. She was a devoted and long-standing member of Edgemoor Baptist Church. She was a member of the 39ers at the church and enjoyed traveling with them for many years. She also looked forward to helping the quilters every week at the church. Margarette also spent time playing various board games with her neighbors and friends. She took time to teach her grandchildren how to play Scrabble & Rummikub and was hard to beat. She was known in her apartment building for riding the stationary bicycle, into her late 80s, and climbing five flights of stairs to her apartment for exercise.
Services will be held at Woodhaven Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens in Powell on Thursday, January 25th with receiving of friends and family from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a service at 1 p.m. followed by a graveside service. Pastor Rick Miller will be officiating.
