Marlon Keith Tarter, age 89 of Powell, TN, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2023.
Marlon was born on September 11th, 1934 in Nancy, KY, to Rufus and Ella Mae Tarter. He
grew up on his family farm in Kentucky, and attended Eastern Kentucky University, graduating
in 1956.
After graduation, Marlon moved to Orlando, FL, and spent 34 years working for Martin Marietta,
where he met his loving wife, Sandra Tennant. Marlon and Sandy were married in 1968 and had
three children - Brian, Jeffrey and Michael.
After retiring from Martin Marietta, Marlon and his family moved to Powell, where Marlon worked
for Bechtol Jacobs. Marlon loved to work, and continued to keep busy around his home doing
projects and taking care of his lawn. He loved his family deeply and all of his friends that
became extended family and his three granddaughters were a special light in his life. He was a
man of deep faith in God, which he passed on to his sons and grandchildren.
Marlon was preceded in death by his brothers, Wayne and Desmon, and his stepsister, Bea. He
is survived by his wife, Sandra, his three sons; Brian (Devon), Jeffrey, and Michael (Jamie), and
granddaughters; Alexis, Madison and Ashleigh.
A memorial service will be held at Woodhaven Funeral Home 160 Edgemoor Rd. Powell, TN.on Wednesday, September 27th
at 1pm.
