Obituary

Dew, Murrel, R. "Randy", age 74 of Knoxville, passed away suddenly Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center surrounded by family and friends. He was born August 14, 1940 to Sam and Roxie Dew of Norris. Randy was an Elder at Covenant Life Church, where he was instrumental in the building of their new facility. His faith and his love for the Lord, his family and his church defined the type of Christian Witness he was. Thank you for sowing into our lives. He was a carpenter by trade building homes for his 3 children as well as many others around the area. He was Owner-operator of Murrel R. Dew Construction. He worked several years at X-10 and volunteered 15 years at The love Kitchen along with his wife Lynda. He was an avid Jigsaw Puzzle Enthusiast. He was a loving husband, wonderful Dad, patient Popa and loyal friend. He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Lynda Crawford Dew; his parents; brother, Edward; sister, Unia Dougher; in-laws, Henry and Rose Crawford. He is survived by his children, Steve and wife Ann Dew, Valerie and husband Todd Ellis, Susan and husband Steve Mitchell; grandchildren, Kelli and husband Taylor, Zachary, Skylar, Cody, Connor and Faith; sister, Ann Stewart; brothers, Clyde and wife Lorene, James and wife Juanita, Donald and wife Judy; sister-in-law, Kathy Crawford Hicks; brothers-in-law, Marvin and wife Betty Crawford, Don Crawford; special friends, Lowell and Sarah Allison, Jake and Becky Popejoy as well as many other family and friends. Special thanks from the children to Florene Hill for the joy and companionship she brought to our Dad over the last few months. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm Saturday, December 13 with funeral service following at 2:00pm with Rev. Tony McAfee, Rev. Jake Popejoy, and his grandson, Rev. Cody Mitchell, officiating at Covenant Life Church, Lake City. Graveside service will follow funeral at Norris Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be son, Steve Dew, sons-in-law Todd Ellis, Steve Mitchell, grandsons, Zachary, Skylar, Taylor, Connor and friend Lowell Allison. Memorials may be made to Covenant Life Church Building Fund, Lake City. Woodhaven Funeral Home & Memoial Gardens. 160 Edgemoor Road, Claxton, is honored to serve the Dew Family.
