Smart, Myrtle Marie Branam, age 91 of Powell, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009, at St. Mary''s Hospice. She was born September 21, 1917 in Sevier County. She retired from St. Mary''s Hospital. She is preceded in death by brothers, Wallace and Von Branam of Texas; sister, Beatrice Cooper of Powell. Survivors include, daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Lawrence Simpson of Powell, with whom she made her home the last year and a half; son, Franklin Smartt of Powell; grandchildren, Larry and Carla Simpson of Florida, Debbie Wampler of Powell, Steven Smartt of Powell, Kristi D''Anna of Texas; one special great-granddaughter, Diane Wampler of Powell; brother, Frank "Jr." Branam of Knoxville; sister, Ruby Levy of Texas; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Wednesday, June 10, at Woodhaven Funeral Home Chapel with funeral services following at 8:00 pm with Rev. Keith Knight, officiating.
