Copeland, Nell Pauline "Polly", age 90, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Brakebill Nursing Home. Long-time Claxton resident, Polly was born in Sevier County, May 30, 1918, to the late Elvin Grant Baker and Laura Cretty Fultz Baker. A loving mother & grandmother, she enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening and sitting on the front porch swing. Polly was a member of Zion Baptist Church and attended Calvary Baptist Church for many years. She loved children and babysat for many local families through the past years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Winfred Clayton Copeland; brothers, Frank, Ben and Mack; sisters, Edna Loveday, Hazel Norman and Pearl Lyons. She is survived by her devoted son, John R. Copeland and wife, Ardena; grandchildren, Denise and Tony Luttrell, Donna Copeland, Michelle and Carl Hoefer, and John R. Copeland; great grand-children, Holly & Heather Haney, Clara & Lily Hoefer, Kinsey & Cagney Copeland; many nieces and nephews. Special friends include, Leon & Lillis Julian, Leroy & Betty Jo Foust, Jerry King, Jerry & Mildred Smith, Rev. Harold & Ann Ogle. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 13, 2009, from 6-8 pm with a Eulogy given by Rev. Glenn Gamble at 8:00 at Woodhaven Funeral Home Chapel.
