Norma Brower Meredith, 86 , of Powell, TN was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and community servant passed on May 14, 2022 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville, TN. Norma was born on March 30, 1936 in San Bernardino, CA. Her family moved to the Springfield, MO in her teens. She was a graduate of Willard High School in 1954. She met her husband, Jay, a few years after high school. After they were married they moved to Tennessee where she has lived in Knoxville for the past 60 years. After raising her children, Norma worked in the University of Tennessee English Department for 17 years. She was also a dedicated volunteer serving in local elementary school medical clinics, at her church as a receptionist, Angelic Ministries, and at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital. Norma was an avid Lady Vol fan holding season tickets for over 35 consecutive years. She was a reader, bridge player, and bowler. Before retiring and hanging up her racquet, her tennis team won a national senior championship. Norma was also active at her church, Wallace Memorial Baptist Church, where she attended faithfully for over 60 years.
Norma is preceded in death by her husband, Jay, of 63 years. Norma leaves behind her sister, Joyce (Carl) Maggard, and sister-in-laws, Phyllis Meredith and Janet Brower; her children Tim (Debbie) Meredith of Jefferson City, Todd (Karen) Meredith of Huntsville, AL, and Allyson (Scott) Tracy of Powell; She is also survived by her grandchildren, Whitney (Ryan) Hardwick, Kaitlyn (Brett) Stewart, Morgan (Daniel) Tabor, Kyle Tracy, Zachary (Mikaila) Meredith, and Weston Meredith; Norma leaves 6 great-grandchildren as well as many loving nieces, nephews , and devoted friends.
There will be an outside graveside held on Wednesday, May 18 th at 1:00pm in the Garden of Gethsemane at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens, 160 Edgemoor Road, Powell, TN 37849. The service is open to anyone who would like to attend and there will also be a livestream of the service on Norma's facebook page for anyone who would like to attend in this way.
