Ray Luther Metcalf, of Clinton, TN went home to the Lord June 24, 2015, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. He was a decorated Army medic and recipient of the Purple Heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Queenie Metcalf; son Melvin Metcalf; daughters Cindy Metcalf Lewis, and Lena Faye Metcalf ; daughter-in-law Pat Metcalf; grandsons Joey Monroe and Joshua Clapp; brothers Dan, Vanie, and Buford Metcalf; sisters Bida, Vernie, Roxie and Anna Lee.
Ray is survived by his wife and soul mate of 70 years Ruby Metcalf; sons Robert (Kristen) Metcalf, Ted (Carolyn) Metcalf, Brian Metcalf: daughters Linda Metcalf, Shirley (Rob) Hendren, Patricia Nora, and Connie (Bert) Lansdon; multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. So many that he loved having around so much; sister Zelma Ruth Mohler; sister-in-law Judy Dawson; nephew Carl Metcalf and extended family C.B., Edith, Verda and Cassidy.
Visitation will be Sunday June 28, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Woodhaven Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 160 Edgemoor Road, Powell, TN. Second visitation will be held Monday June 29 from 1-2pm with service at 2pm, at Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 845 Mehaffrey Rd, Powell. His grandson, Rev. Scott Jones will be officiating. The interment will follow in the church cemetery.
