Obituary

Cooper, Rebecca Maner, 95, Knoxville, passed away Monday, January 10, 2011. Family and friends are invited to meet at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Woodhaven Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 160 Edgemoor Road, for a graveside memorial service. Family will receive friends at 2:00 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1902 Raccoon Valley Rd, Heiskell. Rebecca was born in Knox County, Tennessee, on April 17, 1915, to William Anderson and Callie Maner. She was graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee in 1937. Rebecca was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dutch. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Heiskell. Rebecca is survived by son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Sheila Cooper and grandsons Stephen Dutch and William Max Cooper; daughter and son-in-law Lyn and Richard Sarli; daughter Emily Cooper Hatfield; sisters Oga Maner Williams and Dorothy Maner Marshall and husband Jack; numerous special nieces, nephews, and friends. Rebecca was a third grade teacher at Crossville Elementary School for more than twenty years. After retiring and moving back to Knoxville, she volunteered in the gift shop at East Tennessee Children''s Hospital for over 30 years. She was named Volunteer of the Year in 2006. Memorial donations may be made to East Tennessee Children''s Hospital, 2018 Clinch Avenue, Knoxville 37916 or St. Mary''s Hospice, 7447 Andersonville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37938.
