Richard Lee (Dick) Landon Sr, age 88, of Knoxville, Tennessee went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Park West Hospital after a long battle with dementia. Born in Morristown, New Jersey May 3,1935 Graduated from Rule High School in 1953 where he was co-captain of basketball team and All-City guard on the football team. That's where he met his wife of 69 years Joan Tallent Landon. Upon graduation he joined the Air Force serving 18 months in Okinawa where he learned to speak Japanese. In his last days he was always using the term (Domo arigatogozaimasu) thank you very much. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee college of engineering. Upon graduation he worked at General Electric in Salem, VA. and attended Virginia Tech for his masters degree. After working for others he started his own business, Landon Electric Company in Clinton, TN. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Farragut, Tennessee. Preceded in death by his father Delmar Ralph Landon, mother Marion Landon Davis and brothers D.R.(Sonny) Landon and Ronald J. Landon. Leaves behind his loving wife, sons Richard Lee (Rick) Landon Jr and wife Cindy, Michael Perry Landon and wife Cheryl, and Douglas Landon, and daughters Kimberly Landon Dowell and husband Mike, Lori Landon Jag and husband Mike, Grandsons Tyler and Ryan McMillan and Granddaughters Alexandra Lovejoy (Adam), Megan Landon (Sirui Ma), Molly Landon. Missing him is his companion, his Maltipoo, Bentley. Graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Monday September 25, 2023 with military honors at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens, 160 Edgemoor Road, Powell TN. 37948.
