Robert C. Worley, aka Buddy, 83, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. He was born on March 12, 1933 in Wise County, Virginia. Buddy was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Laverne Worley; his parents, Vernon Worley and Hattie McConnell Worley; sisters, Barbara Bowman, Ruth Foster, Fay Barker; brothers, Donald Worley, Mac Worley and Gary Dean Worley

Sergeant First Class Robert C. Worley was a career soldier in the US Army for 20 years. He was a tank operator in the Korean War in 1950 then did two tours of duty in the Vietnam War 1968 and 1971 at which he received a Bronze Star. Buddy retired from the military in 1972 and then worked for Candle Ridge Plaza Apartments as maintenance supervisor until he retired. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Herman United Methodist Church.

Robert was a husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather and a great grandfather. Buddy was one thing for sure; he was a man of his word. If Buddy accepted you into his family, then you were family.

Buddy is survived by his daughter, Phyllis Hall of Powell, TN; son, Phillip Worley of Calhoun, TN; sister, Glenda (Jenny) Davis of Powell; brothers, Larry Worley of Grand Prairie, TX, Carl Edward Worley of Pikeville, KY and Gary Worley of Maynardville, TN.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 11, and from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, with a funeral service to follow at Woodhaven Funeral Home, 160 Edgemoor Road, Powell, TN 37849. Graveside service will follow at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens.
