Crawford, Rose Hurst, age 93, of Solway, passed away peacefully early Tuesday, November 6, 2013. Today Mom took her final journey to meet Jesus and Dad on the Streets of Glory. Known as Mom, Mamaw, Gran, Great-Gran, Momma Rose, and Aunt Rose, she lived her life loving her God, her family, her church, and all who knew her. She was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1919, to Mark and Hattie Lane Hurst of Knoxville. She often would tell people Santa brought her. Shortly afterward, they moved to Anderson County where she started grammar school at Scarboro and then attended Claxton Elementary. She met and married the love of her life, Henry A Crawford on December 26, 1936. They settled in Solway where they began attending the Solway Church of God and began raising their family of four children. She was retired from Allied Chemical Corp. She is preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Henry; her parents; son-in-law, J R Hicks; daughter-in-law, Lona Crawford; brothers, Clarence, Kenneth, Claude; sisters, Ethel, Louise, Edith and Dorothy. Surviving her are her children, Marvin (Betty) Crawford, Lynda (Randy) Dew, Kathy Hicks of Knoxville and Donald Crawford of Jasper, AL; grandchildren, Rocky (Lori) Crawford, Robby (Michelle) Crawford, Marvina (Mike) Baldwin of Knoxville, Steve (Ann) Dew of Heiskell, Valerie (Todd) Ellis of Knoxville, Susan (Steve) Mitchell of Seymour, Donna (Wade) Benson of Twenty Nine Palms, CA; great-grandchildren, Michael, Joshua, Roxanne, Jessica, James, Robert, Ryan, Kelli (Taylor), Zachary, Skylar, Cody, Connor, Faith, Will and Braxton; brother, Thomas (Mildred) Hurst of Maynardville; special long-time friend, Katherine Nauman; special nephews, Lowell (Sarah) Allison, Roger Crawford and special niece, Phyllis Hunt; numerous other nieces and nephews, family members and friends. Special thanks to caregiver, Sandy Wells. Lest we forget, her 4-legged companion, Kirby. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 9, from 12 - 3 with a Celebration of her life following at the Solway Church of God with Rev. Jeremy Daniels and Rev. Jake Popejoy, officiating; eulogy by Phyllis Hunt. Interment will follow at the Solway Church of God Cemetery with her great-grandson, Cody Mitchell, officiating.
