Maples, Shirley Faye, age 69, of Powell, went home to be with the Lord May 14, 2010, at St. Mary''s Residential Hospice. She passed away as a result of a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Shirley was born and raised in Knoxville and was the daughter of Mary Catherine Batts and Robert Sherman Underwood. She loved attending church as a child and as an adult taught children''s Sunday school for many years. Shirley was an only child and grew up wanting the large family the Lord gave her; caring for and spending time with her family was the most important thing in her life. Shirley is survived by Robert Maples, her husband of fifty-two years; daughter, Stefanie Bollinger; sons, Mark, David, and Reuben Maples; grandchildren, Derrick, Johnathan, Kimberly, Austin, Alexis, Katelyn, and Weston. She was preceded in death by her son, Curtis Maples. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to East Tennessee Children''s Hospital. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Sunday, May 16, at Woodhaven Funeral Home Chapel.
