Booth, Sidney Lee, 80, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at The Groves Assisted Living Facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
He was born on October 31, 1944, with his twin sister Sue, in Leesburg, Florida. His parents were Ruth and Carl Vay Booth.
Sid grew up in Fruitland Park Florida, until he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He served in the Marine Corps from Aug 26, 1963, until May 2, 1969. He achieved the rank of SGT / E-5 and served in the Vietnam war. He received the National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal, as well as other awards, and decorations.
After serving his country in the Marine Corps, he moved to Tennessee and continued to serve his country as an Electrician at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tn. This facility was originally part of the Manhattan Project, and has played a key role in nuclear weapons research, development, and production since World War II.
He was a faithful member of West Park Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Ruth and Carl Vay Booth, brothers; Maurice Booth, Pete Booth, sister; Eva Sue Britner, and his loving wife of twenty plus years Zelma Booth.
He is survived by his only son, Sidney Booth Jr., and his Daughter-in-Law, Lisa Booth, as well as nieces, a nephew, and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at Woodhaven Funeral Home in Powell, Tn, with Receiving of Friends on Tuesday April 22, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and the Internment Service where he will be laid to rest beside his loving wife, will be Wednesday April 23, 2025, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens with a graveside service at 2 p.m., officiated by James Lynch from West Park Baptist Church.
