Vann, Verna Mae Herrell, age 90 of Heiskell, passed into the arms of Jesus in her home on August 18, 2011. Verna was born February 14, 1921 to the late Arch & Rose Herrell of Heiskell. Verna worked in Clinton at the Magnet Hosiery Mill before moving back to Heiskell in 1963. She was an avid farmer who enjoyed raising vegetables and canning. In her later years she enjoyed cracking & picking walnuts. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and having large Sunday dinners. Everyone was always welcome at her table. Verna was a Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and a Dear friend that will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Millard Vann. Parents, Arch & Rose Herrell, brother, Hubert Herrell and sister Ruth Stooksbury. She is survived by son, Michael L. Vann and wife Gwen, daughter, Vickie S. Wright and husband Kenny. Grandchildren, Samantha Bradford, Christopher Vann, Matthew Vann and Becky Phillips Riehl and husband Chris. Great-grandchildren, Brittany Vann, Brooke Covington, Deana Vann, Nathan Vann, Bryson Vann, Addison Phillips and Keaton Phillips. Several devoted extended family members, nieces, nephews and many special friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 5pm till 7pm on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Woodhaven Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service at 7pm. Revs. Sammie Epperson and Allen Giles will officiate. Graveside services will be conducted at 2pm on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens. Family & friends will meet at the graveside at 1:45pm.
