Virgil Steven Allen, age 71, of Powell, TN., passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.   Virgil was born April 2, 1947 in Clinton County, TN., to Virgil and Stella Quilliams Allen.  He was a former employee of Tri-State Roofing in Knoxville and a retired security guard with the former Martin Marietta ORGDP D.O.L. K-25 site in Oak Ridge. Mr. Allen enjoyed fishing, working on vehicles, watching Nascar races, doing yard work, cooking, and gardening. He loved his cat Phoebe, being outside and taking walks through the woods, and working in his garage on antique cars and trucks. He was a prankster who loved taking care of everyone and having his family near him. He was known to give bear hugs and had a smile that would light up a room.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his best friend and father-in-law Donald Carpenter, and several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife Patti Allen, daughter Becky (Jimmy) Royal, sons Bradley (Krista) Allen, Brent (Casey) Allen, and David Allen, grandchildren Hope (Adam) Crowe, Syra Allen, Slaton Allen, Austin Davis, Colton Allen, Shyanne Allen, Emily Royal, Gavin Royal, Xander Allen, Hayden Allen, and Nikki Irwin, brothers Bob Allen and Harold Allen, Mother-in-law Ruth Ann Carpenter, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be Monday evening, July 23, 2018, from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Woodhaven Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, with the Funeral Service to follow at 7PM.  Interment will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Woodhaven Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 160 Edgemoor Road, Powell, Tn. 37849.
