Bumgardner, William Lawrence (Shorty), age 80, passed away February 13, 2009, at his home in Powell. He was a loving husband, father and papaw who enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening and woodworking. He was a faithful member of Copper Ridge Baptist Church for 51 years. Preceded in death by his parents, William Floyd and Elsie Mae Bumgardner; brothers, Howard and Hubert Bumgardner. Shorty is survived by his wife of 58 years, Emma Ruth Bumgardner; sons, Richard L. and wife Connie, Gary F. and wife Juna; grandchildren, Greg Bumgardner and fianc Heather Whaley, Tony Bumgardner, Heather Bumgardner; sister, Margie Carter; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 15, 2009, from 5 - 7 pm with funeral service to follow at 7:00pm in the Woodhaven Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Berry and Rev. David Bumgardner, officiating. Interment will be Monday, February16, 2009 at 2:00pm at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors provided by the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers are: Paul Bumgardner, Ronald Baker, Bobby Baker, Wayne Bumgardner, Mark Bumgardner, Danny Stewart, Jeff Fraker, and David Bumgardner.
