BUFFINGTON-MARTIN, Billie (Simmons)
Age 93, flew away peacefully to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. She was a member of Praise Temple in Maryville.
A former resident of Solway, Oak Ridge, and Kingston, she and her late husband, Bill Buffington, owned Solway Open Air Market, along with several businesses in the Solway community. She received her nursing training during WWII and worked at Oak Ridge Hospital and Westmall until the early 1970''s, and later with the Roane County Public Health Dept until her retirement in 1978.
Preceded in death by husbands, Bill Buffington and Sam Martin; daughter, Jacquelyn (Jackie) Smith, granddaughter, Dana Bagwell, parents Clay Simmons and Addie Simmons Hill, and other family members.
She is survived by daughter, Elayne Buffington Wood (Jack), Sevierville; granddaughters, Ronica Tilley (Derrick), Farragut; and Terri Dykes (Tony Mainelli), DC; grandsons, Don Bagwell (Denise), Augusta, GA, and Bobby Inman (Laura), England; great-grandchildren, Macy, Madelyn, and Maverick Tilley; Jade Wickenden and Ellie Inman; Michael, Addison, Adam, Chloe, Kaelin, and Colin Bagwell; and Marly Mainelli; seven great-great grandchildren; many family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 3pm, Friday, March 21st at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens; Edgemore Rd in Claxton, TN.
